A team of young enthusiasts came together with a shared goal of creating visually stunning designs that blend neo-modern and Indian styles. Devika, the director aimed to represent the home of a modern Indian girl in a way that's true to culture while keeping it young and pop. My role was to create a harmonious link between Western and Indian styles by using Boho visuals. I chose a warm colour palette to depict a cosy vibe to the space but added fresh greens and cool blues for a slight break. Whimsical and maximalist were the two keywords that I used to put together the whole look. Designing a house into an inviting space excites me the most, and making it look personalized and lived-in is just my favourite part. I love using textiles like kilim cushions and carpets, tea-stained crochet fabric, and printed floral table covers. Wicker cane furniture added a cherry on top of the cake. My mother always told me that the kitchen of any household tells a unique story about the people living there, so I painted the kitchen an ochre yellow to illuminate the muted greys. It's difficult to find refrigerators with neo-pop shades, so I painted that too. Fun, right?
