DESIGNATION: ART INTERN

It all started in January 2017, when I was in a rush to get to my job as a design curator in a textile brand. That's when I received a call from Bindiya, who was searching for people to help build her team for an upcoming feature film called Ittefaq. At the time, I had no idea how the production design business worked, but I decided to give it a shot. After waiting for a few days without hearing back, I messaged her and asked if we could meet. She agreed and invited me to her set. In just 15 minutes, she explained the basics of art direction and without hesitation, I jumped at the opportunity to join the team. What's even more exciting? I later found out that Bindiya had actually meant to call another Palak and not me, but it was a pure coincidence that I ended up working on my first-ever feature film! As an intern, I was fortunate enough to work with Bindiya and her amazing team, who always treated me with kindness and respect from day one. They taught me everything there is to know about Production Design, from sourcing and graphic design to on-set shoots and the dos and don'ts of the film industry. Throughout my time working with them, I realized the importance of being organized, consistent, honest, and hardworking. These qualities became the cornerstone of my work ethic, and I carried them with me to all my future projects.
